Saving The Green
One of the easiest ways to save money and help the environment is to car pool to work. In the Virgin Islands every morning there are thousands of cars going the same direction with only one person in them.
The V.I. Energy Office has been promoting car pooling for years with hardly any success, but we also practice what we preach and hope that this blog can be a connect point for other to join us in the fun of car pooling.
Yes, car pooling is fun. Research shows that people who travel to and from work with companions enjoy the commute much more. Instead of every morning trying to find something unrepulsive on the radio and making the next light, the two of us traveling to from Queen's Quarters to Frederiksted discuss TV, movies, philosophy and what a wonderful job the government is doing. See, that is another value of car pooling, it gives you have a sense of humor.
What I am doing here, and this is new, so it might go through some changes in the near future, is offering a place for Virgin Islander to post information about carpooling. Do you go from Red Hook to Charlotte Amalie every day? I am guessing that there might be some one else out there making that trip too?
In later posts, I will write about how much money I save car pooling and hopefully we will get posts from other Virgin Islanders too who are saving money car pooling.
Do you want to brighten you life a bit, maybe, meet some new friends. Post your daily commute here and amybe something will happen.
